"Sometimes I just can't let go"......... How true. You say self-indulgent, I say, " this is simply the best way to keep the music and the memories alive". Deege's shelf life was short lived but it amassed memories for a lifetime in those two meager years. True, we were yet another band that was swallowed up by the "industry" and the ordinary strains that everyother band goes through, but the music still means something to a select few (probably more to us than others). So without further adieu.... List of funny memories: -Owing more for our bar tab than what we got paid. (Atlanta). -The stupid desk lamp on the stage that served as the light show ( Warrensburg). -it seemed Missouri bars have a psycho dancer who's a staple of the venue. (The Brave - KC) (The Gypsy - St. Lou). -Ranch Bowl rig came unplugged threw headlining band's drum set off the stage to get to the plug in. (Omaha) -Endless laughs at the expense of hicks, chicks and cows. -For Jerry Bayton - "Bacon Strips", may you come to see this and feel good about your time with us. -Dave falling of the stage more than once trying to impress something in a dress. -Eating Boudin (?) being told it was a cajun delicassie best eaten with mustard, only to learn is was bull genitals (Baton Rouge) -Blowing signed bands off the stage when we opened for them.......and conversely being blown off the stage by a band of teen-agers that opened for us. -Driving in the middle of nowhere with the gas light on wondering if we'd make it to the next stop...much less the gig. -Still a little painful but I'm beginning to smile about it- losing a 1/3 of our gear out the back of the trailer - always make sure it's securely locked...and to those of you that found the gear - a big @!#*!!! You! -St.Louis Bus Trip - those of you who were there no what I'm sayin'... The band to me was above all else about the music and the love of creating it, watershedding ideas, playing live or recording. Within that framework many personalities came and went but not before leaving indeliable impressions on each of us and the music created during their stint. Secondary to this were the relationships - exercizes in communication, tolerance and general comradary/bafoonery. Trouble came when we tried to become something other than who we were - a decent band with incredible potential. Ultimately our demise was losing faith in who and what we were. Fortunately, most relationships were allowed to rebuild in the passing years by the cohesive bond of the music we created together and a lot of laughs.
